"I came to the program with high blood pressure and really, really high cholesterol.  I was already on meds for both. Then at my annual physical in December my glucose was elevated.  The glucose was just a little above the normal range.  That really scared me straight.  I work in a heart and vascular center.  I know first hand the end result of all of these problems.  I Could not wait for Boot Camp to start in March. 

I just had all of my blood work repeated today.  I have been off my blood pressure and cholesterol meds for two full months now.  My cholesterol is totally normal with no meds.  My blood pressure, totally normal.  My glucose levels are well within the normal range.  All of this has taught me that I have to take care of myself and I have to exercise every single day of my life for the rest of my life.  This has truly been a life changing experience for me.

The body that I am getting in the process is a nice incentive too.  I am down from a size 12 to a size 6 in 2 1/2 months.  I am losing inches so fast now that I can't keep up with which clothes fit me.  I have lost almost ten pounds in two months.

Wow - I cannot believe that I actually ran Chastain Park today!! This sounds so sappy but when I drove home this morning I actually cried - not from pain or exhaustion but out of complete happiness that I had done it. You see I cannot remember any time pushing myself to actually complete a physical activity - sad but true. Boot camp has been the most incredible voyage of discovery for me - I have lost 10 pounds, fitted back into pre-maternity clothes and through the motivation and encouragement I received from instructors, other boot campers and friends realized that I do not have to remain over weight and inactive - I have a choice and that is to believe I can do it!

Thank you so much for getting me to this point. Over the past month I jotted down what I was learning from boot camp...thought I'd share the top 10 with you!

(1)  Getting fit is 90% a mental challenge 10% a physical one
(2)  There is no excuse for making excuses
(3)  Kickboxing is a lot more fun than ballet!
(4)  Playing like a child can makes me feel strong
(5)  I can eat and loose weight
(6)  Everyone has muscles you just need to use them!
(7) It is better to get up at 5.20am than to go bed at that time!
(8) If you ask for support you will find most people are happy to give it
(9) I can still skip at 37
(10) Tara may be small but she is mighty
